SWEDISH MIDSUMMER CELEBRATION
The Midsummer Day Party last
June 24 at Payneham Community Centre, 374 Payneham Rd. between 12.00-18.00 was a
successful event. It was a lovely day enjoyed by all the people who attended the
celebration. As soon as everyone had finished eating their own picnic midsummer
food we headed outside the hall. Dancing around the midsummer pole was exciting
as many were participating, singing and dancing.
Remembering the way it is
celebrated was memorable and exciting for both the young and adults alike.
Everywhere in Sweden this is a traditional family fun day. The many organised
games were entertaining as it used to be and still very exciting.
It was good to see our president Mia Harman wearing the Swedish national
costume and Susanna Borholm wearing the village costume. Until then we will see
you all again in the next event.
