FROM THE PRESIDENT'S DESK

Dear members and friends,

Here we are again...almost half the year has gone...where do all those days go, not to mention the late nights for the last few weeks watching the World Soccer and hasn't there been some great matches as well as few surprise upsets. We have to give our Socceroos a few Brownie points for their disappointing, but never-the-less, valiant effort.

Many thanks to Chris for the June edition of Vikingen with the splendid colour photos of the royal wedding in Sweden.

The committee is now in full swing with the arrangements for the Winter Ball and it is pleasing to hear that there has been quite a bit of interest already. Members and guests who I know have attended many previous Winter Ball functions have been ringing to enquire as to the details for this year and whether it will be of the same standard.

I am pleased to inform them that we hope to make it even bigger and better starting with a larger band which will include a new female vocalist. The smorgasbord style dinner will varied and plentiful as we know it presents an opportunity for people to indulge in the tastes of Scandinavia.

I am sure the Hall will be nicely decorated as always so even if it will be a traditional Adelaide winters night, inside it will be warm and friendly.
