FROM THE PRESIDENT'S DESK
Dear members and
friends,
Only a few weeks
to go for the Winter Ball and bookings have started to roll in with people
organising a table for their group so please do not leave it too late to make
your reservation which should definitely be in before Monday the 4th.
of August as our wonderful chef, the one and only Jenny Hansen, needs time to
purchase and prepare those delicious Scandinavian treats we have become so
accustomed to over the years. It will be a buffet / smorgasbord once again as
this gives people a great variety of tastes and allows our non-Scandinavian
guests a chance to sample foods that they would not normally prepare for
themselves. Remember the curried herrings and Finn’s homemade dark rye
bread….mmmmm! don’t they go together well! For those who are not fond of fish
as an entrée simply let us know at the time of your booking and we will arrange
a plate of antipasto, poultry or something else of your choice.
The price of
drinks has not changed and remains very cheap compared to hotel or restaurant
charges. The hall will be nicely decorated as usual and of course it is heated
so don’t let the cold weather deter you.
As mentioned in
Vikingen we have managed to engage a very versatile four piece band who are
capable of delivering music to cater for most peoples’ taste, in fact if you
would like a special request, perhaps to impress your partner, please let
Chris, the Editor of Vikingen, or myself know and we shall do our best to
arrange it.
All in all it
shall be an evening of eating, drinking, fun, music, dancing and good company.

‘crowning’ of the Viking Of the Year…I wonder who it will be this year!
